“The goal of The Buddhist Monastic Initiative is to create a non-sectarian forum for envisioning the future of monastic life in the West. We plan to achieve this goal by conducting research, developing this website so it can serve as a resource on the subject, and organizing conferences and retreats where these ideas can be explored in person.
The spirit of this initiative is to create an uplifted and inspiring vision for Buddhist monastic life in the West in the 21st century, based on a deep understanding of Buddhist tradition and Western culture.
